Ascending Pike’s Peak with Family (and Garden of the Gods!)

What do you do when your family is in town? This!

On this beautiful, clear day in July, my visiting family and I drove down to Colorado Springs to brave Pikes Peak! Well, I should be clear— I did not tell them where I was taking them… They were really into it when we arrived at the entrance station, but lost some enthusiasm once I was driving cliff-side up switchbacks.

The moral is, it’s a good idea to warn your family about the heights aspect before driving up the mountain. Some people might get nervous. Whoops!

After our trip to the summit, we drove back into Colorado Springs and took a trip through Garden of the Gods. Everyone loved the sight of the red rock-lined landscape and the beautiful formations. What an awesome day of sightseeing!
