Colorado Expedition: Day One

When you’re a couple that happens upon a three-day weekend, you make sure to take full advantage of it. Faster than you can say, “Where do you want to go?” we were on our way on a grand tour of Colorado with only a few stops planned on the way.

Heading south from Denver on U.S. 285 takes you on a beautiful trip through the little towns nestled in the Rockies. Buena Vista and Poncha Springs stand out as places I could see retiring. (Ha, as if I’ll ever retire!)

Before it was too dark, we stopped in Pagosa Springs for dinner at Riff Raff Brewing (I had a yak burger, Anna had a goat burger) and to splash around in the hotspring water a bit. We ended our night in Durango, where a trip to Steamworks Brewery was absolutely necessary.
