Hiking to Fish Creek Falls in Steamboat Springs
What do you do when your wife has a work retreat in Steamboat Springs? You tag along, of course! Because Steamboat is awesome!
This trip was made extra interesting thanks to a city-wide power outage on the night we arrived that made finding dinner extremely difficult. The next morning, we went out on a hike with Anna’s boss, Deonne.
Fish Creek Falls is a moderately difficult 4.5 mile out-and-back hike just outside of Steamboat. Just past the trailhead is the Lower Fish Creek Falls. If you only have limited time while you’re in town, it’s still worth the quick trip over to check out the lower falls.
The hike to the Upper Fish Creek Falls is much steeper and rockier, but offers great views of the surrounding canyon and forest. Additionally, you get to get up-close-and-personal with the water if you are so inclined.
This hike is very beautiful and highly recommended, just remember to bring $5 for the trailhead parking! And, if you’re like us, we recommend stopping by Mountain Tap Brewery in Steamboat afterward to reward yourself for the effort.
