Summiting Mount Bierstadt

After three years in Colorado, we finally did it: we hiked our first 14er! At 14,060 feet in elevation, Mount Bierstadt is considered a great “starter 14er,” as it’s pretty straightforward hike without a lot of technical skill required. It’s still not an easy hike, though. It took us a total of about 5.5 hours from start to finish, starting just before 7AM and finishing just after noon. The views were great, especially considering the emergence of fall colors in the mountains. This trail was busy, but that didn’t stop us from seeing lots of pika and a couple marmots near the path. Who wants to join us on the next hike?
